The Center for European Studies sponsors various seminars and workshops devoted to the professional development of teachers. CES programs emphasize curriculum development and ongoing teacher training at the K-12 and post-secondary level. Past workshop topics have included Europe and the environment, international organizations, marginalized groups, democracy, and religion.
SIMULATION MODULES
European Union Simulation Modules: developed by the UW-Madison European Union Center of Excellence these simulations are intended for use in middle school, high school and undergraduate classrooms. Two simulation modules are available:

Summer 2009 K-12 Teacher Workshop:
Looking Forward, Looking Back: Causes and Consequences of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
22 June-26 June, 2009 - Concourse Hotel, Madison, WI
To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, The Center for European Studies - in collaboration with the Center for Russia, East Europe and Central Asia (CREECA) - offered a week-long K-12 Teacher Workshop in late June 2009. The Workshop looked at both the Cold War and the Post-Cold War period, identifying themes and events that led to the dismantling of the Iron Curtain, evaluated the monumental changes in Europe in the last twenty years and highlighted both their regional and global significance.
